Sister of Charity vs. Billy the Kid. Guess who won.

Thursday, June 26th, 2014

If, like me, you were taught by the Sisters of Charity, you already know the answer.  If not, then you really should learn about Sr. Blandina Segale.  She was a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati, Ohio, a community which, like our own Sisters of Charity of New York, sprang from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s foundation in Emmitsburg, Md.

While ministering in the New Mexico territory, Sr. Blandina had an encounter with the legendary outlaw, Billy the Kid.  He learned his lesson, too.

The Archdiocese of Santa Fe has received permission for Sr. Blandina’s cause for canonization to open.
