Your Eminence,
Istanbul is simply a bad Turkish pronunciation for Constantinople. St. Sophia was commissioned by Justinian in 527 A.D. The only older surviving church of our faith is the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem which was commissioned by Helen (mother of Constantine) in 326 A.D.
I notice that the name Patrick which may have a spiritual connection to our Cathedral in New York has splashed national news forums with the interdict of excommunication at the Altar. Bishop Thomas Tobin has barred Congressman Kennedy from receiving communion in the Archdiocese of Providence.

                                                                                                                  Steve Pappas

Very informative and interesting. Could have left out the snarky comment about lack of media coverage, though; for the record, this blog IS media.

This was a very informative and a great read as always. I love the fact that you have a knack of teaching everywhere you go and always allowing your personality to shine through. You truly are a gift to the church! It is visits like this that show what true ecumenical outreach truly is.

I noticed on a recent visit to St. Patrick's Cathedral that the St. Michael's Hymnal has been replaced in the pews by a new hymnal in which great Christmas hymns have been ruined by inclusive language. This is very disturbing.
