NY Post: “Catholic schools’ secret: love”

Here is a wonderful piece on our Catholic schools–during Catholic Schools Week–in the New York Post by Bill McGurn:

We don’t speak much about love in education, not even during Catholic Schools Week. Instead, we focus on more tangible measures of success: how 99 percent of Catholic school students get their high-school diplomas; how a black or Latino child is 2.5 times more likely to graduate from college if he or she has attended a Catholic high school; how Catholic schools manage to do all this at a fraction of the cost of public schools…

Back when he was playing for the New York Jets, Damien Woody sent his children to St. Vincent’s even though his family wasn’t Catholic. At a Christmas concert, a fellow parent asked him why. He answered, “My wife and I believe that a school where they love God will love my children.”

Awesome article! This is so true. Good Catholic schools radiate and permeate God’s love. We need to protect our children and our schools from the Federal government’s sneaky intrusion of secularism. Catholic people must fight the Common Core agenda in the public school realm and not allow it in the Catholic school system. Catholic schools should be ordering educational material from authentic Catholic book publishing companies. We need to continue to have truth and love radiate and permeate society from our Catholic schools. We should not allow societies’ standards and curriculum infiltrate our schools with confusing, heretical, vulgar material. Look at the website
Catholicisourcore.org. This is an awesome tool to use to educate friends and families about the dangers of Common Core in Catholic schools.
We pray for our Church, our schools, and our USA.
    God Bless

It’s unfortunate that every post, no matter how innocuous, is used by some as an excuse to insert a political rant.

My children attend NYC parochial school; I’m very, very pleased with the education they receive.

    Your Eminence,

The nation needs you help in pushing back against Common Core. What the Federal government is pushing on our youth is immoral, and unjust. Catholic schools will be subject to Common Core just as will public schools. I have included a link to what they feel is appropriate reading for 4th graders. We are talking about 9 and 10 year old children here.

We need to pray and act against this evil before it destroys a generation of children in America.

God bless, and thank you for all that you do for us.

    (P. S. we miss you in Milwaukee)
