And I'm 58.

Our own parish school, which struggles, is surrounded by luxury condos. I have often thought we should replace the school building with a high rise, put the school on the first two or three floors, put luxury housing on all of the floors above, and use the income it generates to subsidize not only our own school, but a few others.

The days of "respectful partnerships between the government and Catholic Charities" will be over and done, I guarantee you, if we vote the wrong way in November. Who could imagine America without religious freedom! It is as unimaginable as 911 was until 9/11. We did not connect the dots we were told. If we fail to connect the Obama dots we will also fail to to use our vote to save and protect the Church. I pray it is in your heart to protect us from what is coming if we pretend there are no dots.

Your Eminence: I read of your recent persecution by Siciliano and your fine response to him. I am so weary of others telling us that we, as Catholics, are hate filled "homophobes". Your reference to the Incarnation Children's Center merely illuminates what is for others, unobservable, namely, that Roman Catholic Church was at the ready, the first (as She always is where those are suffering) when the AIDS crisis hit, to extend open loving arms. They are not interested though in that history as it does not support their narrative. I am not working right now but I pray and fast for all of our priests, so that they might have the fortitude to proclaim the Gospel. Only a priest configured to Christ could have responded in the way that you did to Mr. Siciliano! May our Lord watch you and keep you safe from all harm. We are so grateful to you.

Cardinal Dolan,
I can't tell you how wonderful it was to read your blog! I am the parish secretary in an inner-city bilingual parish in York, PA in the Diocese of Harrisburg. When our school closed in 1994, we rented it to the local HeadStart program for many years. When our sisters left, we sold our convent building to our local Catholic Charities. They use it for their Intensive Family Services program and also for the Heart of Mary Pregnancy Support Center. The building we own right next to the rectory is now home to the St. Mary's Thrift Shop which serves the community with clean and affordable clothing and is a source of income for our parish. Our Thrift Shop also partners with the local Domestic Violence shelter to provide free clothing to their clients in need. Another building we owned was destroyed in a fire and we had to demolish it. That lot is now a grassy space with a statue of Our Blessed Mother and a large mural of the Tree of Life for all to see who drive by our campus. We are very blessed here at St. Mary's that we've been able to take the buildings bequeathed to us by our German ancestors and continually use them for the Glory of God!
God bless you and the work that you do!
