I really appreciate this posting. Too many Catholics and Christians in general don't know about or understand All Saints Day or All Souls Day. If more people would learn more about the Church and our history they would enjoy a deeper understanding and joy that accompanies the knowledge of God's love and mercy. With so many people celebrating Halloween or better defined All Hallow's Eve, it would grant so much more praise to Our Heavenly Father, if they truly understood the celebration of life in the transition of death.

J.M.J.
Dear Archbishop Dolan, regarding the Faithful departed, I was wondering if for the next few weeks, when the petitions are read at Mass, we could all Pray for the Canonization of the servant of God, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen who touched the hearts of so many and helped in the conversion of countless people as he remained Faithful to the Church's teaching on the dignity of the human person and the Sanctity of the Sacrament of Marriage and The Family. As a teacher of the Faith, he knew how to use the media to help spread The Gospel, and I believe we could use this loyal son's guidance in the Days to come.

Respectfully,
Nancy Danielson

PRAYER OF ST. GERTRUDE THE GREAT

Our Lord dictated the following prayer to St. Gertrude the Great to release 1,000 souls from purgatory each time it is said.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the massessaid throughout the world today, for the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family.

                                                   AMEN
